Journeyman March 2018

"On the day he was carried into the rehabilitation prison, halfway around the world, the man who was going to save him lifted his hand from a family Bible, turned to the massive crowd gathered in Washington, D.C., and began to change the world."
                                                                          ~7 Miracles that Saved America
 Study/Learn

Related image1. Read chapter 6 AND 7 in the 7 Miracles that Saved America. (The battle of Midway, and the Fraction of an Inch)

That's BOTH 6 AND 7 you have to read. BOTH OF THEM! But I'll try to keep it fun still. :) I was not super excited to read about rulers when I read the title a fraction of an inch, but it's not about that! It's about Ronald Reagan narrowly missing death. It's good.

2.  Watch  one, or two, or three videos on Ronald Reagan. I'm gonna to let you decide which ones. (If you do the Mr.Betts one, you'll have to do another one though.) They all explain a lot. Be able to answer afterward basically who he was, and why he was a miracle that saved America.

-The Crash Course link (Don't we all just love him) : Crash course Ronald Reagan

-The Mr. Betts link (LOVE him, and love the cat, but it just talks about the economy at the time of Reagan, so if you pick this one, you'll have to watch another one) : Mr. Betts Reaganomics

-The Reagan Foundation: Reagan legacy

Or go google it and find one yourself. (If you ever get the chance to read Ronald Reagan's speech, "Tear down the wall," do! It's fantastic! ALSO, if you were confused about something or didn't quite understand something in the book, totally go google it! There are tons of you-tube videos about the berlin wall, and cold war, and WW2. If you need recommendations, I got you covered.

3. Watch this battle of Midway with legos video. My friend put it together actually for a vanguard presentation 2 years ago. (Watch this one AFTER you read the midway chapter, so you can follow along.) And don't share the link please.  Legos Midway

4.  Email me if you are coming to class. DO IT! We are going to be playing a game/simulation that  WILL have candy involved, but I need to know how many people are going to be there so I can know how much candy to bring, and how many bad guys/good guys we need. Thanks guys. You're awesome. bethedingledody@gmail.com

Know/Understand

(Take up to ten minutes on this:)

Pick a word or phrase that is found in the scriptures. Then go to this site: https://www.biblegateway.com/resources/dictionary-of-bible-themes/1670-symbols and learn what the word means.  THIS SITE IS AWESOME! And, it keeps going, so click on the links of the scriptures and really learn lots about your word. (You can also search for other words on the site) Do a word study on the word. Take notes in your commonplace book. (An online Etymology dictionary is good for this too.)

Image result for ChristEvery scripture story is symbolic of Christ. EVERYTHING God created is symbolic of Christ. (Actually, it's really cool that it is known as HISTORY, 'cause that literally is HIS STORY.) Anyway we will probably have time for a 30 second show and tell thing in class for you to briefly explain something you learned about the savior while learning the definitions to one or more words. Learn something COOL!

(For example, something cool I learned on Christmas Eve is that the word Bethlehem in Hebrew means "house of bread," and the French word for "to eat" is manger. Christ was born in a manger in Bethlehem. Or, to eat in the house of bread. Jesus Christ is the Bread of Life. When we partake of the sacrament we eat the bread. WHOA! Chills.)
